Off-Season Player Wrap: Foster notches seventh 20+ point game

The NBL1 South regular season has come to an end, with one Phoenix player heading into finals, while one round remains in NBL1 North. See how they performed below.

Daniel Foster (Keilor Thunder)

16PTS, 5REBS, 1AST, 1STL vs Nunawading Spectres (L)

Foster’s season with Keilor in NBL1 South has come to an end, with the team finishing 15th on the ladder. The Phoenix development player tallied a seventh game with 20+ points. In Friday night’s win over Geelong, he shot an impressive 92% from the field.

Back on court for their final game of the season against the Nunawading Spectres, Foster was just shy of another 20-point performance, finishing with 16 points and five rebounds in the loss.

Angus Glover (Ringwood Hawks)
36PTS, 3REBS, 3ASTS, 1BLK vs Kilsyth Cobras (L)

Glover ended his season at Ringwood on a personal high, continuing his dominance from the three-point line with nine made from beyond the arc, finishing with 36 points. Unfortunately, Ringwood’s season concluded with a 13-point loss to Kilsyth.

DJ Mitchell (Ipswich Force)
20PTS, 6REBS, 10ASTS, 2STLS vs Southern District Spartans (L)

One round remains in the NBL1 North season, with Ipswich sitting fifth on the ladder despite a recent loss to the Southern Districts Spartans. Mitchell had a standout double-double performance, recording 20 points and 10 assists.

Akech Aliir (Mt Gambier Pioneers)
13PTS, 5REBS, 3ASTS, 2STLS vs Frankston Blues (W)

Mt Gambier finished the NBL1 South regular season in second place after a huge 37-point win over the Frankston Blues on Friday night. Aliir contributed 13 points and five rebounds in the victory.

The Pioneers will face the Kilsyth Cobras in a Qualifying Final this Friday night in Week One of the NBL1 South finals.

Gorjok Gak (Casey Cavillers) 
9PTS, 7REBS, 3ASTS vs Melbourne Tigers (L)
6PTS, 1REB, 2ASTS, 1BLK vs Ballarat Miners (L)

Unfortunately, Casey’s season came to an end after two disappointing but close losses to the Melbourne Tigers and Ballarat Miners. Gak threw down a huge dunk over two players in the Tigers game, coming off the bench to deliver nine points and seven rebounds.

He returned to the court on Sunday to take on Ballarat, coached by Phoenix assistant coach Luke Brennan, scoring six points in the six-point loss.
