Owen Foxwell continues to prove his worth in New Zealand, starring against Tom Vodanovich’s Tuatara, while Nathan Sobey’s match was interrupted by an island-wide blackout. Meanwhile, NBL1 South had a scheduled bye over the Easter break.
Here’s how our Phoenix players performed with their off-season teams:
Owen Foxwell – Taranaki Airs (NZ NBL)
31PTS, 8REBS, 7ASTS, 1BLK vs Auckland Tuatara
The Taranaki Airs were part of an Easter Monday thriller, edging out the Auckland Tuatara with a one-point win in the dying seconds.
Owen Foxwell was pivotal, hitting a buzzer-beater three in the first quarter and finishing with 31 points. He also added eight rebounds and seven assists, shooting an impressive 57.1% from long range across 40 minutes on court.

Nathan Sobey – Santeros de Aguada (BSN)
22PTS, 6REBS, 2ASTS vs Capitanes de Arecibo
2PTS, 1AST vs Capitanes de Arecibo
26PTS, 4REBS, 3ASTS, 3STLS, 1BLK vs Piratas de Quebradillas
Nathan Sobey and the Santeros de Aguada secured their second win of the season in dramatic fashion, after an island-wide blackout saw one of their games abandoned mid-week.
Last Tuesday, Sobey’s side narrowly lost to Capitanes de Arecibo by two points. The Phoenix co-captain continued his strong form with 22 points and six rebounds. In a rematch three days later, the game was called off due to a nationwide blackout.
Santeros de Aguada bounced back on Sunday, clinching a three-point win over Piratas de Quebradillas. Sobey starred once again, finishing with a game-high 26 points, four rebounds, three assists, three steals, and a block.
Tom Vodanovich – Auckland Tuatara (NZ NBL)
11PTS, 5REBS, 2ASTS vs Taranaki Airs
Tom Vodanovich was solid in Auckland’s narrow Easter Monday loss to Owen Foxwell’s Airs. He contributed 11 points, five rebounds, and two assists in the one-point defeat.
