South East Melbourne Phoenix import centre Alan Williams will remain at the Phoenix for the next two years.
The South East community welcomed the 206cm American nicknamed Big Sauce with open arms.
"It came down to being in a place where I can grow as a person and as a player. I love South East Melbourne Phoenix and everything that comes with being a part of this organisation," Williams said.
(Williams' energy and passion has captured the hearts of Phoenix fans.)
Williams has had a stand-out first year in the NBL with 14 double-doubles for the season. He is currently leading the league in rebounds at 9.59rpg, while also at the other end of the court is averaging 16.59 points.
"Goals for this season are simple, treat every game like it could be your last and give everything possible to try and win a championship. For the following seasons, the goal is to make the Phoenix a cornerstone of the NBL and continue to grow our relationship with the community. And hopefully, win some championships while doing it," he said.
CEO Tommy Greer said re-signing Williams was at the top of his to-do list.
"From the moment he landed in South East Melbourne, Alan bought into exactly what we are about at the Phoenix. We're about engaging with our community, being an active part of the lives of the people who support us, and Alan has embraced the fans of the Phoenix as warmly as they have embraced him," Phoenix CEO Tommy Greer said.
Williams is grateful for the love and support from Phoenix fans.
"For the Phoenix fans, thank you for your continued love and support; I'm looking forward to many great moments with you all! It's going to be great," he said.
