A decision on this Sunday’s game between South East Melbourne Phoenix and the Perth Wildcats at the State Basketball Centre will be made tomorrow.
"We will have more news tomorrow, but want to assure members and fans that whatever the outcome is they will not find themselves out of pocket,” CEO Tommy Greer said. “This season will be full of twists and turns, and we need to stay agile, react to the challenges and follow the decisions made by the NBL and the State Government.”
NBL Commissioner Jeremy Loeliger said: “At this stage we are still planning to proceed with the NBL Cup in Melbourne starting on Saturday February 20 and we will continue to monitor the situation in Victoria over the coming days and be guided by the advice of the relevant health authorities and the potential impact of any border and other restrictions.
“We wish all Victorians well during what is another challenging period for everyone. Like all sports, we have had to navigate a number of challenges but we remain committed to proceeding with our season and will continue to remain flexible in our scheduling to achieve this.
Greer echoed the NBL Commissioner’s sentiments.
“Thank you to our members, fans and sponsors for your continued support and patience, we’re all in this together.”
