Three-time AFL premiership captain and Brownlow Medallist Trent Cotchin has joined the South East Melbourne Phoenix as the club’s number-one ticket holder.
Cotchin, who played 306 games for Richmond, switched the black and yellow he donned for more than 15 years to the ash grey and green of the Heartland.
The former Tiger will work closely with Phoenix captain Mitch Creek on leadership and mindset.
“I’m thrilled to be a part of this growing organisation, I love what they’re doing in the community and hopefully I can provide a little bit of leadership to a developing roster and coaching staff,” Cotchin told Phoenix Media.
“I’m also really excited to be there on game day as a fan, I know that the Fire Pit is a great place for entertainment and I know my family will love it too.”

South East Melbourne Phoenix CEO Tommy Greer was delighted by the partnership, calling it a ‘no-brainer’ for Cotchin and the Phoenix to align.
“Trent has had success, we are looking for our first championship, so we’d love to gleam any nuggets of knowledge he can share so we can convert that into wins, and hopefully titles,” Greer said.
“He’s also a family-man, he’s got three little ones with Brooke, so we can’t wait for them to see the lights and action of the Phoenix games and become part of our family.”

The first home game will be at John Cain Arena when the Phoenix host the Perth Wildcats on Sunday, October 1 at 4pm. CLICK HERE to secure your seats.
