It will be almost two months between games at the Fire Pit (John Cain Arena) by the time the Phoenix roll into their home court on February 5 to take on the Adelaide 36ers in what will be our first ever Chinese New Year game.
The Chinese New Year game will kick off our February Hoop Fest which sees us play three games at home in the first two weeks of February.
It will be a chance for the Phoenix faithful to get behind the team after a tough two months of road games and postponements.
ROUND 10 v ADELAIDE 36ERS, FEB 5, 8PM AEDT, JCA
First up will be our Chinese New Year game, this is our chance as a club to make Zhou Qi and all the new Phoenix fans feel at home as we celebrate Chinese culture during one of their most important holidays.
Keep an eye out for our Chinese themed entertainment, and for our members Zhou Qi's player card will be on offer with 100 lucky people to receive a signed version.
The entire Fire Pitt will take on a Chinese New Year flavour, this is one game you don’t want to miss.
"Zhou Qi has quickly become a valued member of the Phoenix family, as has the legion of fans he has converted to Phoenix fans. This is our way as a club to make him and them feel welcome," CEO Tommy Greer said. "Our Chinese New Year game will become a permanent part of our season and it's a game we hope grows each year."
This game will also be Melbourne hoop fans first chance to see Filipino superstar Kai Sotto live and in the flesh.
(Phoenix will celebrate Chinese New Year for the first time as a chance to celebrate Chinese culture and make Zhou Qi and new Phoenix fans feel at home.)
ROUND 11 v SYDNEY KINGS, FEB 10, 7:30PM AEDT, JCA
Next up in our February Hoop Fest will be our February 10 game against the Sydney Kings which will be our member appreciation game. This will be our fans chance to show the Kings that the Heartland is the home of Australian basketball, and our chance as a club to celebrate our members.
Keep your eyes on our socials for updates on the special ways we'll be thanking the best fans in the NBL.
"We live and breath hoops in the Heartland, we have the most knowledgeable and passionate basketball fans in the NBL," Greer said.
ROUND 11 v BRISBANE BULLETS, FEB 13, 1PM AEDT, JCA
What better way to celebrate Valentines Day than with a date at the Fire Pit. Our February 13 game against the Bullets will have a Valentines Day flavour, and you never know there may even be a proposal.
Birdman will be up to his usual antics, and this game will be round 3 between Zhou Qi and Big Lui.
February will be a big month for the Phoenix, and a big month for Phoenix fans, tickets are on sale now to all three games, so be sure to get in early and plan your February Hoop Fest.
