South East Melbourne Phoenix is proud to announce Federation University Australia will be a Major Partner for NBL23.
Federation University is Victoria’s premier regional university with campuses in Ballarat, Berwick, Churchill, Horsham, and Brisbane. As the fourth-oldest tertiary education institution in Australia; they are the number one university in Australia for first-in-family enrolments and are committed to transforming lives and enhancing communities.
Phoenix will provide the opportunity for 10 students from Federation University, to intern at the organisation in either the front office or performance area per season.
Our players and coaches will also travel to Federation University for appearances to give an insight into professional sporting organisation to students.
Federation University will be the official presenting partner for Phoenix’s Indigenous Round.
They will also have signage at all remaining Phoenix home games on the Eastern Courtside.

“It is an amazing opportunity to partner with a well-established university in Federation University. Their rich history and connection with the community and their students is something we believe will align with our club,” Phoenix CEO Tommy Greer said. “Being able to give students the opportunity to do an internship at our organisation is an amazing step forward as we have seen success in previous interns who have gone onto a casual role for our club.”
Speaking of the new partnership, Professor Duncan Bentley, Vice-Chancellor and President, Federation University Australia stated, “I am delighted that Federation University will become a major partner of the South East Melbourne Phoenix for next season.
“As Victoria’s premier regional university, our desire is to transform lives and enhance communities and, in the Phoenix, we’ve found a partner that not only shares these values but will also provide our students with the valuable opportunity to gain first-hand experience of the inner workings of a high-performing sporting organisation.”
