The Phoenix are excited to announce that Angus Glover has signed a two-year contract extension with the club, with the 27-year-old set to remain with South East Melbourne until at least the end of NBL28.
Glover is currently enjoying a career-best season which culminated in him being awarded the league’s Best Sixth Man, the first Phoenix player to achieve the feat.
The guard has scored more points, reigned in more rebounds and made more threes than ever before in his eight NBL seasons and has become a pivotal part of Josh King’s offence.
A fan favourite of the Heartland, the two-time NBL champion said the decision to remain with the club was a no-brainer.
“I’m really excited to get this deal done and continue on the upward trajectory that we’re on – we're hellbent on bringing a championship back to the South East and we’ve got a big few weeks ahead of us,” Glover said.
“From the day I walked in the doors at the Phoenix I’ve been embraced by the team, the front office and the fans and I look forward to repaying that faith on court in the next few years.”
Phoenix General Manager of Basketball Operations Simon Mitchell said getting Glover’s signature was a great coup for the club.
“Angus is one of the best shooters in the game, but he’s also one of the great team men and a great glue guy. He is someone that was coveted by most clubs across the league, and we’re ecstatic that he is committed to the journey we’re on at the Phoenix,” Mitchell said.
“He’s in our leadership group, but we’re also excited to see him continue to evolve as a leader of our club into the future.”
Tune into Game 3 of the Semi-Finals against the Adelaide 36ers tonight on ESPN from 7:30pm AEDT.
