South East Melbourne Phoenix superstar Mitch Creek says there will be a “special” atmosphere at John Cain Arena during this Sunday’s Throwdown.
With the season series between South East Melbourne and Melbourne United tied at one, Sunday’s battle is poised to have an added layer of intensity.
Phoenix fans are set to takeover John Cain Arena for the home game, with tickets selling fast.
Creek says being able to play a home Throwdown is something he never takes for granted and he can’t wait to go to work on Sunday.
"Going back home for a home Throwdown is going to be pretty special. To have our fans there giving us a feeling of 'let's go, we’re on here, this is ours to win', that’s what you want to feel,” Creek said.
"Our fans are phenomenal. We have the best fans I really do believe that. I’ve played some pretty amazing places and I know our fans know the game.
"To be playing a home game and to have the Phoenix faithful there sitting courtside cheering, hollering, going crazy. Anytime you beat your cross town rivals it’s pretty special."
Tip-off between Phoenix and United is 3pm AEDT on Sunday.
