South East Melbourne Phoenix point guard Keifer Sykes will miss Sunday’s game against the Hawks with an ankle injury.
Sykes landed awkwardly on his ankle late in Tuesday’s loss to Adelaide and will miss his first game of the season as a result.

(Sykes rolled his ankle in the final quarter and did not return to the game)
“Our team’s going to look a little bit different. Keifer hurt his ankle at the end of last game…so there could be different guys with different responsibilities,” Phoenix Coach Simon Mitchell said.
“He did an amazing job on Tyler Harvey last time we played the Hawks; I think he only scored two points on him when they were directly matched up and that was not even Keifer’s fault. He did a tremendous job there, so there may be elements of us we’ll need to chip in and cover for.”
The explosive guard has been one of the premier performers across the entire NBL over the first six rounds of the season, averaging 17 points, five rebounds, seven assists and playing elite defence.
