“If you looked at my social media or even know me on a deeper level you would think I was living my best life,” Kenyon said.
“But mentally I was really struggling and in a real dark space.”
The guard is hoping to use his story and platform to break the stigma of mental health and have the conversations with mates and asking for help.
“Having those conversations and being vulnerable actually shows that you are a tough individual and there is no shame in asking for help.”
“I just wanted to do something different and help people who is in desperate need and people who are struggling.”
Movember was created in 2003 in Melbourne as a movement for men’s mental health and have since funded over 1,320 men’s health projects around the world. Movember not only brings awareness to mental health and suicide prevention but also prostate cancer and testicular cancer that are the biggest health issues for men.
“The main thing I want to do with Movember is let people know it is okay if you are struggling and there is always someone there to help you.”
