The NBL is in the middle of a phenomenal period of growth, new teams, a growing connection with the NBA, crowds increasing year on year, and a former player who some predict will be the number 1 pick in the NBA draft.
Nothing suggested that growth would not continue, then COVID-19 hit, and everything changed. Sport, business and life, in general, required a pivot. NBL owner, and one of Australia’s most successful businessmen, Larry Kestelman needed to make changes.
He joins us on the next episode of our Fireside Chats, to discuss the NBL, business and his thoughts on the Phoenix’s first season.
Kestelman is an entrepreneur with an expanding portfolio of successful companies. He was the founder of telecommunications and utilities provider, Dodo, and as Executive Group Chairman of the LK Group has become synonymous with his vision for success across the technology, property and sporting landscape.

(Kestelman has overseen an incredible revitalisation of the NBL)
In 2015 he assumed ownership of the Hungry Jack’s National Basketball League and has overseen a period of unprecedented growth for the league over its 42-year history including record attendances and broadcast audiences, league expansion with the South East Melbourne Phoenix and next season's inclusion of the Tasmania JackJumpers.
In addition to his impressive business and sporting credentials, he is widely involved in the community and has won a variety of awards and recognitions for his achievements in supporting multiple charities and community initiatives.
The live interview will be the fourth instalment of the Phoenix’s Fireside Chats series following influencer Steph Claire-Smith, NBA and Australian Boomers star, Dante Exum, and 2020 MasterChef winner, Emelia Jackson.
The Fireside Chats online series was launched in August and brings successful individuals from a range of industries and backgrounds to talk openly and provide valuable insights in a relaxed and interactive environment.
