MATCH PREVIEW: Phoenix look to top off Round 1 road trip in Tasmania

The Phoenix continue their Round 1 road trip, flying to Tasmania from Perth to take on the JackJumpers on Monday night.

The Phoenix had a massive win in Perth against the Wildcats, securing a 21-point victory to tip off their Hungry Jack’s NBL27season.

Next Star Dash Daniels, who had his first start at the Phoenix with the absence of co-captain Nathan Sobey due to back tightness, and sharpshooter Tanner Krebs were the standouts for the team in the win, combined for 49 points in the win.

It will be a milestone night with co-captain JordanHunter reaching 200 NBL games against the Tasmania JackJumpers alongside fellowbig Akech Aliir hitting 50 NBL games.

Tasmania tips off their NBL27 season with theirfirst game on Monday night.

Newly re-signed coach Scott Roth looks to climb back up the ladder in NBL27 after finishing sixth following an injury-hit season.

Nathan Sobey again will sit out of Monday’s game. Heis progressing well in his return to court from back tightness and will bere-assessed before Thursday’s home opener against Melbourne United.

Tasmania will be without Ben Ayre (hip flexor). JoshBannan and Anthony Drmic are both game-day decisions

The move from cross-town rivals Melbourne United tothe Phoenix under Josh King may have been a blessing in disguise for the18-year-old. In his second year in the NBL
and looking towards the NBA Draft for 2027, working with a key local group and defensive-focused Josh King was what Daniels needed, and we saw what he has been working on in the off-season in Game 1 of NBL27.

Daniels had a career-high 24 points and, to add tothat, recorded a double-double with 12 rebounds in the Phoenix’s 21-point winin Perth.
