This is the third season in which Creek has been named captain.
The 31-year-old beamed with pride over the announcement, told by head coach Mike Kelly today after a player-vote.
“Captaining for me is to try and lead by example rather than try and put everyone on my shoulders and drag them along,” Creek said.
“It’s about standing with my brothers and saying let’s take a step forward together and make sure no one gets left behind.”
The foundation Phoenix player will lead the team in their first hit-out against cross-town rivals Melbourne United ahead of their home opener on Sunday against the Perth Wildcats.
“I’m looking forward to taking on the responsibility.”
