Rising guard Owen Foxwell has claimed the Phoenix’s Community Player of the Year for his work in the Heartland during NBL24.

Foxwell, a local of the South East of Melbourne, spent more hours at community camps and school visits than any other member of the Phoenix roster.

But hours accumulated aside, it was the passion and enthusiasm that Foxwell showed during those community activities that secured him the award.

Phoenix Community Manager Claire Castle praised Foxwell for his commitment to growing the game of basketball in the Heartland.

“Owen was a true role model for the kids that engaged with the Phoenix, every child that encountered him left with a smile and that’s what we want to see for our community program participants,” Castle said.

“Having grown up in the Heartland, Owen knows how important these programs are for providing opportunities for young people to develop on and off the court.”

Foxwell joins Kyle Adnam, Dane Pineau and Reuben Te Rangi as winners of the award.
