South East Melbourne Phoenix is excited to announce the completion of its playing roster for NBL24, with the signing of import point guard Will Cummings.
Cummings, who has played across Europe and Asia, has won a number of scoring titles and MVP trophies across the globe, as well as a EuroCup victory in 2018.
The American guard last played in China and will head down under for the first time to link up with head coach Mike Kelly’s squad.
“I’ve always been interested in playing in Australia so when the opportunity presented itself, I wanted to make the move,” Cummings said.
“I’ve been able to speak to coach Kelly, we just talked about team and expectations, I just want to bring winnings ways and get another championship.”
The 30-year-old won’t be completely foreign to the setup, having played two seasons alongside fellow import Alan Williams in Russia for Lokomotiv Kuban.
Phoenix head coach Mike Kelly believes the 188cm American will fit nicely into the group as the hunt for a maiden title commences in September
“Will Cummings will give us another high-level creative ball-handler who scores as well as facilitates,” Kelly said.
“He’s experienced, he’s talented, and he’ll no doubt elevate our group.”
Cummings will arrive in Melbourne next week.
