South East Melbourne Phoenix are pleased to announce the appointment of Simon Derrick as the club’s new Chief Executive Officer.

Simon Derrick (pictured above) has been appointed the new Phoenix CEO
Derrick brings a wealth of experience in executive positions across various sporting organisations, with a strong background in commercial operations, marketing and stakeholder engagement.
Most recently, Derrick was the General Manager of Commercial Operations and Stakeholder Management at the Richmond Football Club, a position he held since 2009 and throughout one of the club’s most successful periods on and off the field.
The incoming Chief Executive had high praise for the Phoenix organisation.
“I’ve watched the Phoenix and the NBL from afar and have long admired the growth and the momentum both are enjoying, as well as their intrinsic ties to the community,” Derrick said.
“The club has great ambitions in every department and already has strong foundations in place to thrive from, so I’m excited to help the organisation flourish.
“I am also looking forward to connecting with our members, supporters, staff, sponsors and ownership group in the near future to fully engross myself in the Heartland.”
Phoenix Managing Owner Romie Chaudhari welcomed Derrick to the Heartland.
“We’re very excited to have Simon join us as we continue to grow both on and off the court, and we look forward to utilising his wide-ranging business expertise at the Phoenix,” Chaudhari said.
“This was a much sought-after role and Simon stood out above the rest in an extremely competitive and highly talented field, so I’d like to offer my congratulations to him.
“Finally, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Anoop Singh who stepped into the interim Chief Executive role seamlessly and led the team with aplomb over these last few months.”
Derrick will join the Phoenix in the coming months, with an official start date still to be confirmed.
