The Phoenix roster may be one of the most versatile line-ups they have had in their history with only two remaining spots left to fill according to new assistant coach Adam Gibson.

The 460-game NBL veteran is looking forward to bringing the roster together to play under Josh King in his second season.

“I think everyone knows how Josh (King) likes to coach and how he likes his team to play, he wasn’t hiding nothing that we did last year,” Gibson told SEN’s Dwayne Russell.

“We will have a real versatile line up that we can switch, but he (King) is defensive minded guy that on offensive just play fast. It’s a fun style to play in.”

Gibson is no stranger to the NBL world, ending his career in the Heartland before starting up his coaching career with the club.

The former Boomers star sees the league continue to grow and ‘level up’ every season.

“If you look at other teams they have really levelled up. Every year the league gets better.

“We think we will have a real versatile roster; we will be able to spread the load amongst the whole group and play a real team style basketball.”

The Phoenix start their NBL26 campaign with two pre-season games at State Basketball Centre next week, taking on the Cairns Taipans on Tuesday, August 19 and Melbourne United on Saturday, August 23.

The Phoenix are currently running a one-day only deal through SEN, where $99 will get you an incredible nine games of action with South East Melbourne.
