The Phoenix’s annual major luncheon will have a distinctly Olympic feel this year as Australia’s athletes descend on Paris for the 33rd Olympiad.
Pole Vaulting champion Steve Hooker – who claimed Australia’s first male track and field Gold Medal in 40 years – will form a part of a trio of Olympic athletes that will take part in a panel discussion.
Swimming superstar Brooke Hanson – who also claimed an Olympic Gold Medal in 2004 with Australia’s 4x100 Medley Relay team – will join the Q&A event to discuss her storied career which saw her rise to the highest peak of her sport.
Hanson will also detail how she dealt with numerous setbacks in her journey, one that started with Commonwealth Games selection at the tender age of 16.
Finally, to bring the element of basketball to the Phoenix event, Olympic Bronze Medallist Nathan Sobey will discuss his role in Australian basketball’s long struggle for success and their eventual medal breakthrough at the COVID-affected Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
Phoenix Chief Executive Tommy Greer said that the panel would provide insights that few others could in the history of Australian sport.
“The three athletes we have speaking are all unique and their stories are engaging and entertaining, it’s rare to have tales that can tick all of the boxes,” Greer said.
“We are excited to have Steve, Brooke and Nathan join us and we have no doubt that they’ll bring an incredible flavour to our event.”
Greer will be joined by Phoenix head coach Mike Kelly and GM of Basketball Operations Simon Mitchell who will also form a panel to discuss the club’s upcoming campaign and off-season acquisitions.
The event will run at Melbourne’s iconic venue, The Glasshouse, and guests will be treated to a premium culinary experience.
Tickets are available at $300pp or $2,800 for a table of 10. To secure your spot, head to corporatehospitality.semphoenix.com.au or contact corporate@semphoenix.com.au
