The 33-year-old most recently played in Serbia with Crvena Zvezda, with stints with a number of Euroleague teams prior to that.
Brown is a defensive powerhouse, and currently holds the Euroleague single-season steals record of 66 - a record he took off Argentinian legend Manu Ginobli in 2022.
At 6”8, Brown can fill a multitude of positions, and defend spots 1 through 5 with both power and agility.
Phoenix General Manager of Basketball Operations Simon Mitchell said Brown would complement the roster and the Phoenix’s style.
“John is a defensive beast, he can rebound, push pace and distribute and create offense with pace” Mitchell said.
“With his size and high basketball IQ, he’ll fit perfectly into Josh King’s game style and we look forward to welcoming him into the Heartland.”
The Phoenix have one local spot remaining to fill on the NBL26 roster.
