South East Melbourne Phoenix has signed local big Tristan Forsyth as a development player.
The 22-year-old has signed on a one-year deal.
Forsyth is a Heartland local, having played for Dandenong, Frankston, and most recently signed for Knox in the cancelled NBL1 season.

(Forsyth will add depth to the Phoenix's frontcourt)
He also went through the American college system at California Baptist and Sequoias.
“I was over the moon when Simon (Mitchell) broke the news,” Forsyth said. “I just couldn’t believe that I’m officially a professional player now.
“Especially to be a part of such a great group of guys and coaching staff – the support has been amazing and I’m really looking forward to the future.”
Forsyth joined Phoenix training earlier in the year and instantly impressed the Phoenix coaching staff with his intensity, physicality and willingness to learn.
Phoenix Head Coach Simon Mitchell loves his potential as a strong, athletic big.
“With each session you could just see his game growing,” Mitchell said. “His work ethic, size, athletic potential and toughness are NBL level.

(Forsyth's energy has been a highlight of his training performances)
“We will continue to refine his game and keep exposing him to the level of play required to be a successful professional.
“We believe we have another development player who can contribute now when called upon and certainly one we are very confident has a bright future in the NBL. And it’s great to have another kid from the South East of Melbourne in the squad.”
The Phoenix’s roster now includes Ben Moore (import), Mitch Creek, Cam Gliddon, Reuben Te Rangi, Kyle Adnam, Adam Gibson, Yanni Wetzell, Kendall Stephens, Dane Pineau, Izayah Mauiohooho-Le’afa (development player) and Tristan Forsyth (development player).
The NBL21 season will tip off in mid-January.
