Rosendale, 25, was a development player with the Phoenix across NBL24 and NBL25 and now joins the roster, replacing Gorjok Gak.
Having already appeared in 24 games for South East Melbourne, Rosendale once held the highest three-point shooting percentage in NBL history, with his elite accuracy from deep a defining feature of his game.
Phoenix General Manager of Basketball Operations Simon Mitchell said Rosendale’s elevation was a reward for his persistence and professionalism throughout the season.
“Luke has been training with the group since preseason, keeping himself ready if an opportunity should call. He continued to come into the gym to work on his game when the team were on the road, or on players days off”, Mitchell said.
“He brings a great attitude and competitiveness to every practice. He is a great example of what can happen when you’re willing to put in the work and make sacrifices for your goals, and we’re excited to have Luke as part of the run home for the Phoenix.”
For Rosendale, earning a roster spot fulfils one long-held ambition, but his focus is now firmly on team success.
“It’s a dream to be officially on the roster with the Phoenix, but now it’s all about winning a championship and helping the team in any way I can,” Rosendale said.
“I’ve spent a lot of time around Nathan Sobey and Angus Glover, and they’ve been great at keeping me motivated, so it’s special to now be part of the group.”
Rosendale is set to suit up for the Phoenix’s HoopsFest clash against Adelaide in Perth on Sunday.
Ellis Biggar will now return to his role as a development player.
