A seasoned player with 226 games of NBA experience, Iwundu has played for the Orlando Magic, Dallas Mavericks, New Orleans Pelicans and Atlanta Hawks, and most recently in the German and Greek leagues.
Standing at 198cm, the former second-round NBA draft pick out of Kansas State will form an important part of Josh King’s rotations this campaign.
Phoenix General Manager of Basketball Operations Simon Mitchell said Iwundu has the attributes to be an extremely successful player in the NBL.
“Wes has some really impressive traits. Firstly, he’s a great athlete and a high-level defender. He has great length, a dogged determination and great lateral speed. He will also bring some perimeter marksmanship.” Mitchell said.
“He will fit into Coach King’s game style well and he’s as excited to get started as we are to welcome him to the Heartland.”
Iwundu will wear the number #25 for the Phoenix, with the club hopeful to have him on-court against the Adelaide 36ers on Thursday, October 16.
