After sustaining a knee injury at practice, South East Melbourne Phoenix import Alan Williams is set to spend some time on the sidelines.
Williams has met with surgeons and will undergo minor surgery on Monday.
No timeline has yet been set for Williams return.
Phoenix medical staff will closely monitor Williams’ progress in the lead up to the season and assess his availability on a weekly basis following Monday’s procedure.
South East Melbourne Phoenix Head of Performance Eric Hollingsworth addressed the injury.
“Alan sustained a knock to the knee during a practice and has been closely monitored by our medical team since,” Hollingsworth said.
“He’ll have the surgery on Monday and we’ll assess him once it’s complete.”
