New Phoenix recruit Gorjok Gak will face off against his old college team in his first hit-out in Phoenix colours. Gak was part of the 2020-21 CBU roster, starting in all 23 games while gaining accolades in the Second-Team All-WAC, All-Defensive, and All-Newcomer teams.
“I’m really looking forward to competing against my old coach, Rick Croy, and his staff in August. I only spent one year with him in Riverside, but it was a great experience. I was able to achieve all of the goals that I had set out for my final college season,” commented Gak.
“Cal Baptist will always be my home away from home, and I’m grateful for that.”
(Gak played with Cal Baptist in 2020-21.)
The fun doesn’t stop there. Following the game, fans will get the chance to meet the team for a signing session on the court.
“We’re so excited to be playing a pre-season game at our spiritual home in the Heartland at the State Basketball Centre against WAC team Cal Baptist Lancers. After the success of last year’s pre-season game in Frankston, we knew we wanted to do another game for fans to get their first glimpse of the new roster under the guidance of new head coach Mike Kelly,” said CEO Tommy Greer.
