South East Melbourne is pleased to welcome Akech Aliir back to the Heartland, with the Forward signing a two-year deal with the Phoenix.
Aliir first featured for the Phoenix in NBL26, playing 29 games and averaging 4.3 points and 2.5 rebounds throughout the campaign.
Used off the bench, Aliir was often a firestarter for the Phoenix with his strong ability to score both outside and above the rim.
Phoenix General Manager of Basketball Operations Simon Mitchell said Aliir provided great attributes on and off the court.
“We see Akech as a player who adds real value to the team. He can swing between the 4 and 5 spots, brings length, athleticism and and will continue to get better with another preseason under his belt," Mitchell said.
“Akech is much loved in the locker room, was a great teammate and stayed ready for the entire season, I feel like he is just scratching the surface on what he can achieve in the sport."
Akech joins Jordan Hunter, Pat Ryan, Hunter Goodrick, Ellis Biggar, Angus Glover, Daniel Foster, Tanner Krebs, Nathan Sobey and Owen Foxwell as contracted players.
