“Putting together a family-friendly schedule was our highest priority this season and we are extremely happy to see so many early Saturday and Sunday time slots. This will give families and the rest of our loyal fan base a great chance to get along to as many games as possible and help cheer us on to victory,” said Phoenix CEO Tommy Greer.
Phoenix’s home opener on October 1, will be against new head coach Mike Kelly’s old side the Perth Wildcats. Phoenix will be looking to redeem themselves against the Wildcats after they knocked them out of the Play-In Tournament in NBL23.
“The rivalry with Perth is building and a home opener against the Wildcats will give us a shot at redemption,” said Greer.
In addition, Phoenix will headline the NBL season opener a few days earlier against cross-town rivals Melbourne United for an away Throwdown on September 28.
“Without question, each year we look forward to our two home Throwdowns, where our fans get their chance to show out as the best fans in Melbourne.” Greer added.

Milestones at the club:
Phoenix will play their 150th game as a club against the JackJumpers in round 19 at the Fire Pit. In their fifth season as a franchise, this is a game to celebrate with the fans that the Phoenix have cemented themselves for a long future in the NBL.
Reuben Te Rangi will play his 100th Phoenix game against Adelaide 36ers in Adelaide in round 4*. After hitting his 300th NBL game milestone last season, he has become the quiet achiever at the Phoenix over his three seasons.
Alan Williams will play his 50th Phoenix/NBL game against the Adelaide 36ers in round 16*. ‘Big Sauce’ has become a fan favourite for his high energy on and off the court.
Newly signed Phoenix player, Matt Kenyon will hit the big milestone of 100 NBL games against cross-town rivals Melbourne United in round 18*. Kenyon has been in the NBL system since 2016 with Phoenix being his third club.
Another big milestone is for new Phoenix coach Mike Kelly, who will coach his 100th NBL game against the JackJumpers in round 3. Kelly was the head coach at the Taipans from 2018-2021 and coached 95 games while there.
