South East Melbourne Phoenix’s PNX Network Event, The Rise and Success of Australian Basketball is this Friday.
There has been a late change to the guest speakers with Lauren Jackson unable to attend the event due to her return to the Opals. Phoenix wish Lauren all the best as she makes a comeback into women’s basketball.
Replacing Jackson on the panel alongside NBL Executive Chairman, Larry Kestelman and Basketball Australia CEO Matt Scriven, is Chief Executive of the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2022 Local Organising Committee, Melissa King.
King has worked in key roles across the board with an extensive resume including working in corporate, government, sport and for purpose sectors in humanitarian, arts, international events, governance, behavioural and health sectors.
Her strategic perspective coupled with strong stakeholder engagement, marketing communications, sponsorship, and business development skills, has seen her represent organisations including Surf Life Saving Australia, Sydney Opera House, Department of Prime Minister & Cabinet – APEC Australia 2007 Taskforce and the Governance Institute. King also sits on the board of ASX listed WhiteHawk (cyber risk) and the United Nations Association of Australia.
