Set against the backdrop of the NBL’s new broadcast partnership with the Nine Network, the Phoenix are poised for unprecedented exposure throughout a campaign packed with momentum-building stretches and major moments.

The club’s now-signature Christmas Spectacular will return for a third consecutive season on December 19, this time against the Sydney Kings in what shapes as another electric instalment of an increasingly fierce rivalry.

South East Melbourne will open its home slate in fitting fashion, hosting cross-town rival Melbourne United in a Throwdown clash on the Thursday night before Victoria’s AFL Grand Final Eve public holiday.

Sunday Funday will once again feature prominently on the calendar, with the Phoenix set to host the Tasmania JackJumpers on Sunday November 1 ahead of the Melbourne Cup in a family-focused showcase featuring a range of pre-game activations and entertainment.

The Phoenix will dominate the Sunday timeslot throughout NBL27, hosting seven home games on Sundays across the club’s three venues. The Gippsland Regional Indoor Sports Stadium will also host its second-ever Sunday fixture, further strengthening the club’s growing connection with the Latrobe Valley through its regional partnership.

With five Saturday appearances scheduled across the season, the Phoenix will also become a regular fixture on free-to-air television, giving more Australians than ever the opportunity to watch Josh King’s side in action.

Three consecutive Saturday games in October will headline a remarkable stretch for the club, with Phoenix fans able to attend home games across five straight weeks at John Cain Arena.

The NBL Ignite Cup will again add extra intrigue to the season, with South East Melbourne set for Wednesday night fixtures in both November and January as the club looks to go one step further after narrowly missing last season’s final. With $400,000 on the line, the midweek tournament looms as another major opportunity for the Phoenix to make a statement.

Further details on NBL27 theme games and fan activations will be announced in the coming weeks across Phoenix digital and social channels.

Phoenix CEO Simon Derrick said the fixture reflected the club’s continued commitment to delivering the best possible experience for fans both in Melbourne and across regional Victoria.

“It was clear via our fan surveys that Sunday was a favourite, so to have seven of them is a real win for our members and supporters,” Derrick said.

“With ten home games at John Cain Arena plus six games in the Heartland across the State Basketball Centre and GRISS – there is a great mix of opportunities for our fans to connect with each other and the Phoenix.

“We’re also really excited that more basketball fans than ever will get to see the Phoenix via the new broadcast partnership with the Nine Network, it’s going to be a big NBL27.”
