After a successful inaugural year, our Phoenix Soar program is open now for applications for 2023.
Over three terms in 2022, Phoenix Soar visited 29 schools, taught 536 sessions across 134 classes with 3,211 students.
WHAT IS PHOENIX SOAR?
Phoenix Soar is a four-week mental health and wellbeing program for grades five and six students, developed and delivered by South East Melbourne Phoenix. Through the program, students learn to recognise, regulate, and articulate their emotions.
Combining classroom and on court learning, students hear from Phoenix professional athletes via engaging digital content, participate in discussions, complete their own Phoenix Soar workbook, and participate in drills and clinics using their learnings in real world scenarios.
“One of the best facilitated programs I have seen run at a school. The students were absolutely pumped for Fridays, and they loved the facilitators. They definitely had an impact on the students. A very well planned program - kid’s booklets and slides were great.” - Teacher
(Trained Phoenix Soar Faciliators will come out to your school and teach the four-week program.)
WHAT DO STUDENTS LEARN?
In 2023, students will sign as the new Head Coach of the South East Melbourne Phoenix, each week learning a new skill to help them lead their team to championship success.
The four topics covered are:
Help-Seeking | Personal Strengths | Recognising Emotions | Managing Emotions
“‘The ladder of SUCCESS is BEST climbed by stepping on RUNGS of OPPORTUNITY;’ hence, a big THANK YOU to the Phoenix for their program Phoenix Soar. Thank you for providing the opportunity, time, and commitment to a program my daughter really enjoyed and that goes beyond basketball.” - Parent

- Two trained facilitators in every session (maximum 1:15 ratio)
