The South East Melbourne Phoenix would like to thank assistant coach Sam Mackinnon for his contributions to the club, with confirmation he will not be returning to the coaching staff for the NBL26 season.
Mackinnon was part of the coaching staff for the previous two seasons during a transitional period for the club on court, stepping in as head coach for three games and helping guide the team to a Playoff Series appearance in the NBL25 season.
Phoenix General Manager of Basketball Operations Simon Mitchell thanked Mackinnon for his professionalism and the impact he had on the group during his time with South East Melbourne.
“Sam played an integral role for the club this season. He brought stability and leadership to the team when he assumed the Interim Head Coaching role and was pivotal in setting this team on a pathway to the playoffs. I wish him all the best in his coaching endeavours.”
The Phoenix will finalise their coaching structure over the coming months.
