Seasoned Foxwell Looking Towards Leadership Role

Owen Foxwell’s story is one that is a beacon of light for any player willing to fight hard enough for a spot on an NBL roster.

From a two-year development player to becoming an integral part of the Phoenix’s plans, Foxwell’s decision to forego his college eligibility in 2023 and paid off in spades.

And now he’s looking to nurture the next crop looking to emulate his path – case in point the Phoenix’s most recent signing, Luke Fennell.

“Luke’s a great talent, great athlete and for sure going to be a guy that he can come to and try and learn off,” Foxwell told Phoenix Media.

“He’s not too far in age from me, but I'm always going to look out for him for sure.”

Foxwell now lays claim to being the second-most capped Phoenix player behind captain Mitch Creek and feels a responsibility to the Heartland more than ever before.

“I want to be a leader in a way. I’ve been the one that’s been around here a lot recently.

“I’m trying to make it easy for when guys come in and just be the person they can talk to about everything.”
