South East Melbourne Phoenix are pleased to announce that long-time club executive Anoop Singh will step into the interim CEO role for the immediate future.

Singh, who has been the club’s Chief Commercial Officer since its second season and played a key role in the formation of the club, will assume the role effective Monday, December 2.

Phoenix Managing Owner Romie Chaudhari praised Singh’s willingness to see the club through this transitional phase.

“I just wanted to congratulate and commend Anoop on taking on this role and I know the club is in good hands with him at the helm,” Chaudhari said.

“Through Anoop and (outgoing CEO) Tommy Greer, the Phoenix has gone from strength-to-strength financially and commercially and I look forward to that upward trend continuing.”

Prior to his career with the Phoenix, Singh was the Hawthorn Football Club’s General Manager – Finance and a key member of the executive team during one of the club’s most successful periods on and off the field.

Singh thanked the Phoenix ownership group for their faith and looked forward to maintaining the growth the Phoenix are currently experiencing.

“Firstly, I just wanted to thank Romie and Tommy for being great allies of mine and entrusting me to continue the great work that has happened in the Heartland,” Singh said.

“As a club, we will continue to be family focused as we strive to bring Phoenix fans their first taste of championship success this season.”

Inaugural Phoenix CEO Tommy Greer’s final day in the role will be Sunday, December 1, though he will continue to play a role in the search for a permanent CEO as part of a committee.

Greer will also continue in an advisory role until the end of the current financial year.
