Phoenix guard Owen Foxwell has agreed to a two-year contract extension with South East Melbourne, keeping him in the Heartland until at least the end of Hungry Jack’s NBL27.
Foxwell, 21, is currently the longest-serving member of the Phoenix roster, having first signed a development player contract as an 18-year-old.
The South-East Melbourne local has been a fixture of the Heartland, having played majority of his junior career out of the State Basketball Centre, before signing his first professional contract.
The NBL25 season has statistically been Foxwell’s best to date, averaging more points, assists and rebounds than any of the other three seasons he has been a part of, and showing a trend upwards in his fledgling career.
Phoenix General Manager of Basketball Operations Simon Mitchell said it was a great thing to be able to keep the partnership going between Foxwell and the Phoenix.
“Since signing with the Phoenix at such a young age, Owen has grown in stature both on and off the court, and he’s no doubt become a fan favourite over the past four seasons,” Mitchell said.
“He is a future leader of the ball club, and to see him work so diligently every day, developing his game, and performing in important moments has been a very satisfying, and it’s great that he’ll be in the Heartland for another two seasons at least.”
Foxwell joins co-captain Jordan Hunter and guard Angus Glover as players contracted going into next season.
