The Phoenix have signed Belgian forward Vrenz Bleijenbergh to a one-year deal for the NBL26 season.

The 6”10 combo forward joins South East Melbourne after most recently playing with Yukatel Merkezefendi in the Turkish Basketball Super League.

The 24-year-old has played in Belgium, Spain, Turkey and in the NBA G-League with the Windy City Bulls.

South East Melbourne Phoenix General Manager Simon Mitchell said Bleijenbergh would bring a unique skillset to Australia as a mobile big.

“Vrenz brings great size, athleticism, and strong playmaking. He can operate in pick and roll as a ball handler, rebound and go, and can both shoot and get to the rim” Mitchell said.

“Vrenz forms a key part of our roster build this season and we’re excited to welcome him to the Heartland.”

Bleijenbergh will arrive in Australia ahead of the Phoenix’s official pre-season start on August 1.

The Phoenix have also mutually agreed to the release of Omari Moore from his one-year contract, with the 24-year-old set to sign with EuroLeague club Valencia.

Bleijenbergh joins Jordan Hunter, Angus Glover, Nathan Sobey, Owen Foxwell, Malique Lewis, DJ Mitchell, Akech Aliir and Gorjok Gak as confirmed signings for the NBL26 roster.
