Williams Reveal Eye-Watering NBA Salary

After four years in the NBA system, it’s fair to say Alan Williams has set himself up for life.
The former Phoenix Suns and Brooklyn big man, who is now a star at South East Melbourne, has revealed just how lucrative his NBA contacts were across four years in the league.
“I signed a three-year, $17 million deal … my first year guaranteed at $6.5 million,” he told the Gettin’ Saucy Podcast.
“That was a fun time of my life. I want to say it was like $80-$100 thousand fortnightly, in your checking account.”

That’s about $150 thousand Australian dollars on the highest scale. It sounds an incredible amount, but then you consider Steph Curry pulled in close to $52 million in the most recent NBA season, or close to $80 million Australian.
“Then I’m thinking, OK, Bron’s (LeBron James) making $40 million this year, and I’m doing the math in my phone … that’s $1.5 million every two weeks,” Williams continued, with a wry smile.
“Even if you were to spend a million in two weeks, which I don’t even think is a possibility to do … I don’t think you can fathom what you’d buy with a million dollars in two weeks … as soon as it’s gone, it just gets replenished back into the account.
“It’s a never-ending fountain.”

Williams said money-management was vital, especially for young players new into the system.
“You give young guys some money … I was very responsible with my stuff, so I gave myself a good umbrella and cushion, so that I could do stuff like that and enjoy times with my friends,” he said.
“I spent a little bit of it … but I’ve still got a lot of it left. I’m good.”
