The Hungry Jack’s NBL has announced the following change to the schedule for Round 21.
Wednesday night’s scheduled game between the South East Melbourne Phoenix and Brisbane Bullets that was to be played at John Cain Arena will now be played at the Cairns Pop-Up Arena at 7:30pm AEST with no fans in attendance.
Details on how the Phoenix plans to compensate members for this missed game, and last Friday’s game against the Cairns Taipans, will be communicated shortly.
“This has been a season like no other, as a team and as a league we’ve been thrown countless challenges, and while playing our last two games away from our members and fans is far from ideal, we’ll face this challenge like we have every other this season, head on,” Phoenix CEO Tommy Greer said.
“As a club we’d like to thank the staff of the Taipans for helping us put on our final two home games, and the NBL for their leadership. Without the league and the clubs working as one there is no way this season would have come as far as it has."
Any Phoenix member that has purchased additional tickets or upgraded their membership through Ticketek will be contacted by Ticketek via email regarding a refund. Those fans who have purchased a ticket will also receive an email from Ticketek in regard to a refund.
The health and safety of players, coaches, referees, staff and fans remains the NBL’s number one priority and, as always, the league’s decisions will be guided by the advice of each State Government and relevant health authorities.
