In a landmark move, the South East Melbourne Phoenix will become the first NBL team to accept payment for memberships and sponsorships in cryptocurrency.
"With the tremendous growth and relevancy of cryptocurrency during this tech boom, we felt it made sense to introduce cryptocurrency as option for our fans to pay for their night out. Our organisation is always working to stay ahead of the curve," South East Melbourne Phoenix Owner Romie Chaudhari said.
Phoenix CEO Tommy Greer believes the groundbreaking step will allow the club to take advantage of the growth of cryptocurrency and set the Phoenix up for success well into the future.
Chaudhari believes recognising cryptocurrency showcases that the club is embracing the reality that crypto will play a leading role in the future of money and corporate treasuries.
The Phoenix will accept cryptocurrency as payment for memberships, sponsorships and corporate packages.
