South East Melbourne Phoenix have re-signed emerging big Tristan Forsyth as a development player for the NBL22 season.
The 6’10 23-year-old is a talented centre / power forward who will add depth to the Phoenix frontcourt with the likes of Zhou Qi, Mitch Creek, Dane Pineau and Tohi Smith-Milner.
Forsyth is a South East Melbourne local and has represented Waverley, Knox, Dandenong and Frankston basketball associations.
He also went through the American college system at California Baptist and Sequoias.
Last season was his first year in the NBL. He featured in four games.

“I found out on the first day of pre-season and it was a massive surprise,” Forsyth said.
“I learnt so much last year and to continue that transition into this year is going to be awesome. I’ve improved my mobility, basketball IQ, and my strength and athleticism.
“I’ve been working alongside Creeky, Dane, Gibbo, Kyle…they’ve all helped me improve my game and prepare to make the jump to a roster spot next season.
“I want to be the best teammate I can be on and off the court. I want to make that roster spot next season and help the team get to another finals run and even a championship game.”
Phoenix coach Simon Mitchell says Forsyth “came from nowhere” before last season and has impressed the club ever since.
“Initially he was not on the coaching staff’s radar until he started really impressing with his work ethic, athleticism and size in our open gym sessions,” Mitchell said.
“We feel with continued development and experience, Tristan can position himself to challenge for inclusion onto our roster in the near future.
“It’s great to see another kid from the Heartland making an impact in our sport.”
The Phoenix open their season on December 4 against the Hawks at John Cain Arena.
