The South East Melbourne Phoenix will tip off their NBL27 pre-season campaign against B.League United, a select team featuring some of the Japanese B.League's top talent, on Thursday, August 6, the club announced today.
The State Basketball Centre will host the clash, giving Phoenix fans their first opportunity to see the club's new recruits alongside familiar faces as the team begins preparations for the Hungry Jack's NBL27 season.
Tickets are on sale NOW for the four games via AXS.
Phoenix General Manager of Basketball Operations Simon Mitchell said the fixture would provide an ideal first test as the group begins to build chemistry.
"This is a great opportunity for us to assess some of the players we have had training with us in the off-season, introduce some of our new players, and also get some reps for returning players against high-quality opposition from Japan," Mitchell said.
"It’s always a privilege to play international teams, especially Japan as they are a neighbour, a developing basketball nation, and a basketball country we continue to develop ties with. It's also a fantastic opportunity for Melbourne's Japanese basketball community to see some of their country's best talent compete locally."
The clash against B.League United is one of four pre-season fixtures the Phoenix will host at the State Basketball Centre throughout August, before taking on Saint Mary's on August 16, Melbourne United on August 22 and the Cairns Taipans on August 27.
Tickets for all four pre-season games are on sale now through the Phoenix's new ticketing partner, AXS.
Please note for game days, tickets can still be accessed via the AXS app without internet connection.
