We've hit the half-way mark of the PHOENIX GOAT bracket, with the winner of this match-up to take on Adam Gibson in the quarter-finals.
Next up is three-pointer gun Trey Kell III up against the every competitive point guard Ben Ayre.
TREY KELL III
Games: 24 | PPG: 12.5 | RPG: 3.8 | APG: 2.8 | SPG: 0.8
A big-bodied guard who was a 36 per cent shooter from deep in his time with the Phoenix. A strong finisher who would often be on the receiving end of tough contact in the paint but still manage to score, Kell posed a huge threat to opposition teams.
In his year with the Phoenix, nobody scored more from three-point range than Kell and was a placegetter in blocks and rebounds showing his ability to play big on defence.
BEN AYRE
Games: 27 | PPG: 10.7 | RPG: 2.0 | APG: 2.6 | SPG: 0.7
Ayre’s first season in the Heartland was a strong indication of what fans can look forward to for the next few years. Called upon as a starting guard on the back of a raft of injuries, Ayre took to the role with aplomb and was a shining light in a period of decline on court.
His ability with ball in hand – both scoring and passing – was matched only by her sheer will to win, arguably one of the most competitive players to pull on a Phoenix jersey.
