South East Melbourne Phoenix has revealed their new home and away jerseys for the NBL21 season at Mountain Goat Beer brewery in Richmond.

Goat – Very Enjoyable Beer have joined the club as their premier partner and will feature front and centre of both the home and away jerseys.

The new threads are a subtle change from the Phoenix’s inaugural season jerseys, featuring bright green tinges around the collar and multi-coloured green fragments breaking up the ash grey on both sides.

Ashfords Accounting have replaced the inaugural season logo on the right chest position, while Solos Limited and Deep Heat sponsor the back of the jerseys.

Phoenix CEO Tommy Greer says: “At South East Melbourne Phoenix our people and our community factor into every decision we make. Before taking a course of action we think about how the outcome will affect the people who have come to love our brand and the communities we touch.

“This was at the forefront of our minds when we embarked on creating our season two jersey.

“Being a new franchise we felt it was important to continue to build on our brand recognition and thus wanted to maintain many of the elements of our inaugural jersey. We also knew how difficult this last year has been for our fans and thus wanted to ensure that our new jerseys were similar enough to season one so that all our fans felt included.

“We wanted to balance this with some new subtle enhancements to provide fans with something fresh and exciting to rally behind ahead of the new season.

“We are excited about the release of our year two jersey and can’t wait to show you what's in store for games at our spiritual home, the State Basketball Centre. Keep it quiet, but you’ll definitely be seeing GREEN!”

The premier partnership with Goat – Very Enjoyable Beer is another highlight of a busy period for the club, bringing in former NBA player Ben Moore as an import and San Diego State college star and Kiwi big man Yanni Wetzell as a local player.

Phoenix star Mitch Creek loves the look of the new Phoenix jerseys and squad and is expecting a successful season for the second-year club.

“They’re (the jerseys) fantastic, I absolutely love them. It’s amazing how cool it is just to pull on a jersey again, but then to see the colour, the layout, the amazing sponsorship…it’s a really cool feeling indeed,” Creek said.

“We expect a big season. We have a great core group of guys and have enlarged that now with guys coming in like Ben Moore, Yanni Wetzell, Reuben Te Rangi, Cam Gliddon…we’ve got experience all over the court.

“Now we’re bringing in these imports and getting the team together, we have big things ahead.”

Newly elected co-captain Kyle Adnam also took a liking to the new jerseys.

“They’re awesome. I love the colour scheme, I love the bit of green up top - definitely lightens up the jersey,” he said.

The NBL season is expected to tip off in mid-January.
