Phoenix assistant coach, Luke Brennan to lead young pack into FIBA U18 Asia Cup.
Basketball Australia will welcome 21 athletes and Luke Brennan as Head Coach of the U19 Emus program from 28 – 31 July at the Australian Institute of Sport ahead of the FIBA U18 Asia Cup.
Brennan (SEM Phoenix) will be officially introduced and lead the group in preparation for the tournament in India from 13 – 23 August .
“I'm very excited to be involved. It’s a great mixture of experience and youthfulness. We’relooking forward to the camp this week and to see how the group comes together,” said Brennan.
“I like to think of myself as a player’s coach,” he added.
“We want to be a team that plays hard and plays the right way. My job is to ensure that’s happening, with a focus on putting the athletes in the best position to be successful.”
Brennan has featured as an Assistant for the Australian Boomers in recent campaigns and will analyse the best combinations to set the Emus up for FIBA play.
“I think the Boomers experience will help my transition into this role. There are a lot of learnings from the FIBA windows that I can implement here,” said Brennan.
“The primary objective at this stage is to have a great camp. We will be looking at combinations of the right talent that will commit to the relentless style of basketball that makes Australian teams formidable.”
