The Phoenix started their Round 3 double-header with a tough road trip to Perth, where they fell short by four points.

Josh King’s side will look to secure their second win of the season when they return home to take on the Illawarra Hawks on Sunday afternoon.

The Illawarra Hawks secured their first win of the season on Friday night, defeating the Adelaide 36ers by 22 points.

Each time the two sides come face-to-face, there have been fiery contests, and Sunday afternoon’s clash for the Phoenix’s annual STANLEY Tools Down Round is sure to be another one for the books.

TEAMS

Phoenix

Daniel Foster will remain out of the side as he continues his rehab on his back soreness. Pat Ryan will continue to replace him.

Hunter Goodrick will be a game time decision tomorrow as he battles knee pain.

Hawks

The Hawks will be without Todd Blanchfield (hand) and Mason Peatling (foot) on Sunday afternoon. While Makur Maker looks set to debut for the side after signing with the club earlier in the week.

KEEP AN EYE ON

The backcourt connection

Import point guard Skylar Mays is starting to find his groove within the team alongside Nathan Sobey. Mays scored 17 points on Friday night, while Sobey, returning from a back injury, had 12 points.

With Sobey finding his rhythm again, the backcourt partnership will be put to the test against the Hawks’ Tyler Harvey and Milton Doyle.
